Writing Task 1: The Basics
Step 1: Write a complete story with a beginning, middle, and ending.
You may only use "simple sentences" on this page.
Write at least 20 simple sentences.
There are 5 simple sentence formats: (See pages 4 & 5 in handout for examples.)
1a.S+V.
1b. S+V and V.
1c. S and S + V.
Note: Saturday 8pm----This is a good start, but your group should be done by now. Where are steps 2, 3, 4, & 5? This step should have only simple sentences, but there are a lot of complex sentences here.
To finish this writing assignment:
1. Rewrite these sentences so that they are only simple sentences (see the list 1-5 above.)
2. Go to Step 2 and read the instructions about linking sentences.
3. Go to Step 3 and read the instructions about linking sentences.
4. Go to Step 4 and read the instructions about adding adjectives & adverbs.
2. Go to Step 5 and read the instructions about adding new vocabulary (see Chart of Connectors in the Basics handout.)
I will collect and grade this assignment next week.

2. He's from Saudi Arabia
3. He lives in a beautiful city called Alkhobar. is called AlKhobar. -Where is the subject?
4. He's in the mid 20's.
5. He hasn't gone to college, yet. he hasn't gone to college, yet. -Make this a sentence.
6. He likes to drive recklessly. -Excellent vocabulary!
7. He loves his family. They love him as well.
8. He went to U.S. to learn English.
9. He got married.
10. He finished studying in U.S. as soon he finished.-Make this an independent clause.
11. 10 years later, he had 3 children
12. He got hired to a good position in his work place.
13. He bought a new house to live in for the rest of his life.
14. He got his Master's degree.
15. His first son got married.
16.Ten years after he got married he had a child.
17.He named his child Borat.
18.Borat did not enjoy his postion in his dad's company
19.Borat decided to achieve his dream which was being an artist.
20.Borat decided to go to Paris where he can start his artistic career.
21.Borat wanted to be a famous artist where he can show people his work.
22.Borat devoted all his time and effort to reach that goal.
23.After four years of hard work, Borat decided to go back to Al Khobar to see his family
24.Borat called his father and informed him that he will be back home soon.
25.Abdullah rushed to the airport to pickup his son.
26.Borat arrived to AlKhobar holding tow young girls they were his daughters Faswa and Fsyah.
27.Abdullah was in shock he knew nothing about his granddaughters.
28.Borat told his father all about his life in Paris.
29.Abdullah was in tears he was speechless.
30.Abdullah welcomed his new granddaughters he told welcome back.
31.Abdullah and Borat lived in Al Khobar with their wonderful angels Faswa and Fsyah.
32.From the day Abdullah saw his granddaughters he never got apart from his angels as he call them.
